Dating to the Edwardian era, this gorgeous guilloche enamel and rose cut diamond pendant watch created by Longines & Wittnauer Co. is rare in and of itself. Coupled with the Victorian-era longchain with the coveted swivel hand fob, and the unusual inlaid wood, brass, and velvet display case, it's simply exceptional. The watch movement is marked as having 15 jewels and 3 adjustments, and is signed "Longines W. Co, Swiss" (an abbreviation of Longines Watch Corporation). The movement is further marked with the serial numbers 2501652 and 10.85N, dating it to the early 20th century and marking it as a very high quality movement. The watch movement functions and keeps time. The watch case is marked Wittnauer, Swiss, and 14k, carrying the serial number 2100611. The exterior is enameled in a beautiful color balanced perfectly between blue, green, and grey, featuring delicately engraved flowers below the the guilloche enamel, and a delicate filigreed six pointed star atop it, adorned with seven rose cut diamonds set in a platinum frame. Even the bail is beautifully machined and enameled, and the crown topped with a cabochon sapphire. The enamel is in great shape (please see pictures). The watch measures 1" and 1/8" excluding the fob, balancing beautifully on the line between making an impression and maintaining discretion. Including movement, it weighs 17 grams. The chain is available in a separate listing. Presenting a complete package, we have the maple and mahogany display case, with its brass plate and highly polished, unengraved cartouche - just waiting for your initials, perhaps? Boxes like this were popular for pocket watches and pendant watches before clocks were common: they permitted the owner to enjoy the watch even after they'd taken it off! It measures 3 1/2" long by 2 3/4" wide by 1 3/4" high, and is lined in purple velvet and watered moire silk, slightly faded with age but still quite serviceable. As a additional delight, the display tray pops up when the box is opened! As always, if you have any questions or desire additional pictures, please don't hesitate to contact me., diamond
